Posting Random Photo by Email

This is really just a test – trying to figure out the best way to include a photo in my posterous.

This is Jackie with Bear.  Bear was a great dog, but too big a beast to keep around here.

Wineries / Restaurants Wanted to Participate in Eastside Entrepreneurs One Year Anniversary Party

Eastside Entrepreneurs is having our first anniversary party this Wednesday November 11th at KidsQuest Children’s Museum.  5:30-8:30

I’m looking for wineries/distributors who would like to come pour (and take orders for) wine?  I expect we will have somewhere between 40 and 75 people.

One of our members, Rick Hubbert, has donated a case of wine, Sierra Nevada Brewery has donated three cases of beer, Frost Donuts will be donating some of their gourmet donuts and we are still looking for additional food and wine donations.  Ideally, I’d like to have 3 or 4 wineries pouring at the event.

More information on the event can be found at:

http://eastsideentrepreneurs.ning.com/events/eastside-entrepreneurs-one

Thank you for your consideration.

Do Eastside Entrepreneurs Really Want to Celebrate? EE Aniversary Party in Danger of Being Cancelled

Over the past year it has been my pleasure to help organize networking events for Eastside Entrepreneurs - many of them FREE, most of them with a lot of effort and some of them with considerable cost to myself. Many of our members have personally told me that they want to support the group and me in particular so that we keep on having "official" Eastside Entrepreneurs events.

This is the time to step up.

Fellow EE members Rebecca Stromdahl and Putter Bert have offered up their great venue atKidsQuest Children's Museum in Factoria Mall.

I'm very excited about having such a great space for our anniversary party, but have been very disappointed in the response to this point. Despite all members having been invited, we only have 6 rsvps (including myself) and only one person has paid (at the early bird price of $15). I have had a couple people offer to help, but am still looking for a couple of volunteers, as well as donations of food, wine and door prizes.

If we don't get more people commit to attend this celebration real soon, I'm afraid we'll have to cancel it. It's really up to all of you. If you do want to have an anniversary celebration, please step up now. It is up to all of you.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Joe

We All Need a Good Laugh ...

I think I'd seen this in the past, but I received this in an email today via Lisa Hilderbrand of Eastside Spin.  Thanks for the chuckles Lisa!

Husband banned from Target

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse.

Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from our local Target.

Dear Mrs. Morris,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store.. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Samsel, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras.

1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3.. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice,'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway.

6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he would invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' EMTs were called..

9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the 'Mission Impossible' theme.

12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels.

13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!'

14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!'

And last, but not least:

15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.' One of the clerks passed out.

Bing vs Google ?

Earlier today I was speaking on the phone with branding expert and national speaker Eric Weaver about SEO and how to appear higher in search engine results.  I was explaining that with my name it was very hard to compete with a famouse Congressman and a former professional baseball player who have the same names and get lots of media coverage.  Just for kicks, I searched for myself on Google.  To my surprise, I actually showed up on the first page of results (#1 on profile results) and towards the top of the 2nd page with another page.

Just now I searched for my name on Bing and didn't show up until page 3 with my personal website.  I once more googled my name and showed up on the first page under the link to Eastside Entrepreneurs (the social network I started almost a year ago), as well as still being #1 under profile results.

Being here in the land of Microsoft and having them as a sponsor of some of my events, I really want to support them and Bing - but it makes it a little more difficult knowing that they rank me so much lower than Google.  I realize these rankings are constantly changing, but being someone who works much of the day on the web and in social media it is important to me to rank as high as possible in search results.

Which search engine would you (do you) use and why?  I'd love to hear your feedback!
